Dear VHS Alumni,

My name is Mike Senger and I attended VHS as a freshman in the 1960-61school year.
My family lived in the military quarters in Etain. Although I left Verdun suddenly in
January of ’61 due to a family death, I often think of my time there and remember names
like Tom Peters, Skip and Ann Cox, Mike, Tony and Chris Rozga, Faith McDevitt
Dennis Bartholomew, Ray Quinn, Tom Modisett, Jim Dent, Tom Tomlinson, Patrice Foulz
Ann Mitchell and Jimmy Kimmel, to name a few. Life has been “a long strange trip” as the
Grateful Dead declared.  I have encountered only one other person from VHS and regrettably
I can’t remember his name. He picked me up hitchhiking from NYC to New Orleans around
1975 and when we discovered that we were both army brats and started comparing our
fathers’ different assignments we both hit on Verdun and determined that, although we didn’t
know each other, we were there in the same grade at the same time. Finding the website has
been a treat and I would love to hear from anyone who remembers me.

Thanks,

mike senger

John,
My father was stationed at Laon AFB. I can't remember the dates but I am
sure I was there for 1959 & the first semester of 1960. I quit high school in
my Jr. year and came back to the states to join the Air Force, Feb 1960.
Afterbasic & tech school I went back to France & was stationed at
Toul-Rosieres, (not sure of the spelling) 2nd Mobile Comm Sq. I came to Alaska in 1973.
At that time I worked for Pan American Airlines. I quit them in 1975 and
went towork for the F.A.A. as a tech. I retired in 2001.

I have been married for 37 yrs and have a stepdaughter 4 grand kids and
great grandchildren.

ps, If you know anyone who was there during that time period they would
probably know me as the one who was always in trouble. One time they
found a bottle of vodka in my dresser. After school some of us would go to town
and have a few beers, & on more than one occasion after lights out would
leave the dorm through the underground tunnels to go to town

Hi, Bill

I just stumbled across your email site I was just checking out info on Verdun.
I was one of the soldiers who were school bus guards at the school in last part
of 1958, 1959 and first 4 months of 1960.

I was a PFC on TDY from the 23rd Engineer (Field Maintenance) Company.

I wasn't much older that the seniors themselves I was just 17 when I started at
the school it was some of the best duty I had in my 20 years of military service.

I think I may have a picture or two taken at the school. if I can find them I
will share them with you.

My email is jrg1@itlnet.net I would like to hear from you.

Sincerely,

Former PFC Junior R. Giboney
23rd Engineer (Field Maintance) Co.

Subject: Looking for old friends
To: webmaster@vahs.org

From '56 - '58, or until the school was ready in Verdun we had a number of American friends
attend the Canadian high school in Metz.  My best friend in those days was Rose Dickerson,
even after she transfered to Verdun we remained close..... but when I returned to Canada we
lost touch....she did track me down in the mid 60's and we talked on the phone however I moved
to Europe shortly after and we lost touch again.  I think of her often and would love to at least
talk to her after all these years.  The last time I heard from her she was in Santa Rosa California
....would appreciate hearing from or about her.  Other friends that moved to the Verdun High school
include Karen-Sue and Terry Nelson, Janet and Gerry Williams, Bill Cooper, marvin Hayes,
Rose Mary Drish, Jim Sharpe...we would like them to know we are having a General Navereau High
School reunion in Ottawa, the first weekend in October.....
